How it works
Payroll and billing systems usually record time in decimal hours, so 7 hours 45 minutes is entered as 7.75. This calculator converts hours, minutes and seconds to decimal hours and back.
To convert by hand, divide the minutes by 60 (and seconds by 3,600) and add them to the whole hours. To go the other way, multiply the decimal part by 60 to get minutes.

Why does 7.30 not mean 7 hours 30 minutes?
In decimal, 7.30 is 7.3 hours, which is 7 hours 18 minutes. Seven and a half hours is written 7.5.
