How it works
Convert a meeting time, flight time or call between cities. Choose the date, the time and the two time zones, and the calculator shows the matching local time, date and the hour difference between the zones.
Daylight saving time is applied using the time zone rules built into your browser, so the result is correct for the date you pick, including the weeks in spring and fall when the US and Europe change clocks on different dates.
Some places use offsets that are not whole hours, such as India (UTC+5:30); these are handled as well.
Questions people ask
What is the difference between EST and EDT?
EST (Eastern Standard Time) is UTC−5 and applies in winter. EDT (Eastern Daylight Time) is UTC−4 and applies from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November.
Is GMT the same as UTC?
For everyday purposes, yes; both are UTC+0. London uses GMT in winter and BST (UTC+1) in summer, so London time is not always equal to UTC.
Does Arizona use daylight saving time?
Most of Arizona does not, so it stays on UTC−7 all year. The Navajo Nation in northeastern Arizona does observe daylight saving time.
What if I pick a time that is skipped by a clock change?
Times that do not exist on the day clocks spring forward (such as 2:30 AM) are shifted by an hour, the same way most calendar apps handle them.
